The six subject areas identified within the IB Primary Years Program:
The most significant and distinctive feature of the IB Primary Years Program is the six transdisciplinary themes. These themes provide an opportunity to incorporate local and global issues into the curriculum and effectively allow students to "step up" beyond the confines of learning within subject areas.

The curriculum framework consists of five essential elements: concepts, knowledge, skills, attitudes, action. The knowledge component is developed through inquiries into the six transdisciplinary themes of global significance, supported and balanced by the six subject areas.
